REVERIE PIANO
DUO

Rozalia Kierc and Maria Moliszewska created Reverie Piano Duo in 2020. The ensemble initially studied under Stefan Wojtas and is now mentored by Bartłomiej Wezner at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.

The two pianists are dedicated to presenting their unique artistic vision through exploration of both canon and forgotten compositions. Their versatility is showcased in their out-of-the-box repertoire, which includes a wide range of styles, beginning from classical sonatas, through grand romantic and impressionist masterpieces, musical theater suites and concerti, all the way to Polish contemporary music.

Their partnership has resulted in numerous prizes at international competitions, such as the 1st Prize at the International Piano Duo Competition Duettissimo in 2022 and the 2nd Prize at the International Competition of Polish Music in 2023, an honorary prize at the 21st Kiejstut Bacewicz Chamber Music Competition, as well as many other special prizes.

Both young artists complete and inspire each other. They are vivacious performers who are noted for their artistic sensitivity, charisma and unique interpretations. Their debut album, MODERNA, showcases the many facets of Polish contemporary music of the 20th and 21st centuries, presenting the pianists’ intriguing takes on their carefully selected repertoire.

What does our name mean?

The word reverie can be translated into Polish as rozmarzenie.

Roz-ma-rzenie. As in Rozalia and Maria. By the way, our duo changed the name twice, but thankfully Rozalia's Dad came up with the final one.

How did we become a duo?

Stefan Wojtas - who happened to teach both of us - had the idea to bring us together to help Rozalia fulfill a required college credit. And the rest, as they say, is history. We hadn't even met before our first rehearsal!

What repertoire do we like to perform the most?

We both have very distinct repertoire preferences - but this just means we have a very broad and varied repertoire. We agree on one thing - we love playing orchestral transcriptions!

(To be completely honest, Maria prefers music from the Romantic era, while Rozalia loves contemporary).

What is our biggest dream?

Not stressing about finding a room to practice in - so a huge house with two pianos. Preferably in the woods

Also - premiering a work for two pianos and orchestra.
